There’s not been a bookish New Year’s resolution post this year, and for good reason.
Last year’s one failed spectacularly. Let’s have a look.
1. I hoped I would spend less on books. I didn’t. I hoped I would borrow more from the library. That was the case when I was unemployed, but since I’ve started working full-time the resolution has gone out the window. It requires being far too organized. I’m not proud.
2. I wanted to write about one poem each week. I wrote about three poems in total. Although in fairness, these posts still get quite a lot of hits. So maybe I should reassess this one.
3. I wanted to read more in foreign languages. Mixed success here. I am still in the process of reading the book I started last year- but – here’s the key thing- I haven’t given up on it yet!
4. My GoodReads goal was sixty books. I didn’t reach it. We are scaling back this year. Officially. The goal is 55.
I’ve finished two books so far. A writing guide which I was reading at work. And Pride and Prejudice, reread for the Nth time.
Which was awesome!!!!!
Like I seriously underestimated how much I would enjoy rereading Pride and Prejudice. It is just fantastic. Every single sentence is perfection. How have I not reread it for so long?!!
I feel like all resolutions are a work in progress, so anything you do takes you a step closer to your goals! And I adore pride and prejudice- makes me want to reread it!!
