This week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is: Books I Really Liked but Can’t Remember Anything/Much About. Embarrassingly enough, I have quite a few of those! It probably means it’s high time to start rereading 😉

 

1. Alexander Pushkin Eugene Onegin I am acquainted with the plot having seen the opera twice…. But I just can’t remember that much from the written version of it, other than the fact it was funny. Sorry! At least it’s short, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to read it again

 

2.Thomas Mann The Magic Mountain  I have some hazy recollection of it.  But I don’t remember much…

 

3. Thomas De Quincey Confessions of an English Opium Eater It wasn’t that long ago that I’ve read it, but the content is completely gone from my mind. Blank. Oops

 

4. Virginia Woolf’s Orlando Oh yes, I read it, and it was only a few years ago. But other than remembering that it features Orlando and he/she sort of survives through time, I have no recollection of what happened in it. Oh dear.

5. Herman Melville’s Moby Dick  There were funny bits about whales and long bits that I struggled with– I read this over a very long period of time, which I’m pretty sure didn’t help with actually remembering any of the content.

6. Gabriel García Márquez One Hundred Years of Solitude  In my defense I read it on a day when I was in hospital. I found it absolutely fantastic but have no memory of the main characters whatsoever….

7. Elizabeth Gaskell North and South  There was a love story, which I really liked and lots of people died, including parents of the main characters, and I remember not liking that…

8.Charles Dickens Hard Times 

I remember a few scenes, but not exactly how they link together?

9. Eugene Rogan The Arabs

When I finished this book I felt that I genuinely understood more of the history of the Middle East. Sadly, that feeling lasted for more or less a month before I completely forgot all the important details, such as which country and what event and which historical period. Help.

 

10. J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I have no idea why but I seem to forget the plot of this book almost as soon as I finish it. This rule does not apply to any other of the Harry Potter books, just this one. I have no idea why. Mind like a sieve.
