Thank you to Shaz @ShazReads for the nominating me. Shaz’s got an amazing bookish blog, and she’s just started a lovely bookstagram @shazreads – do check it out!
I’ve been keeping my blog quite impersonal so far… so answering those questions is a big step for me!
The Rules
- Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions your nominator has given you.
- Nominate 11 other people and give them 11 new questions to answer.
- List the rules and display the award
QUESTIONS:
- What inspired you to start blogging?
I wouldn’t really call it much of an inspiration – I was told that blogging would do wonders for my CV, as I could add ‘Wordpress’ to my transferable skills. Cough. It didn’t really work out that way, but whatever… Thankfully, that is no longer the reason I blog…
- What is one thing that you wished you knew when you started blogging and why?
I wish I had known more about the bookish side of blogging when I’d started – I had no clue how many people read books and write about them! It’s fantastic!

- What are your top five favourite books or series?
That’s a far too difficult a question to answer. I will try though…
- All of Jane Austen (a series is an option, right? Let’s just treat them as a series…)
- Charles Dickens’s Bleak House because, my word, it’s an amazing book…
- George Eliot’s Middlemarch (it’s really grown on me, I need to re-read it)
- Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series (either the books with Esmeralda Weatherwax or those with Sam Vimes)
- Erm, seriously, I cannot just pick one book to fill this space…. There are too many options…
4. What is your favorite dessert?
Chocolate. Preferably milk chocolate. Preferably Cailler milk chocolate. But since I don’t live in Switzerland I have to compromise…
- What is the best vacation you have ever been on?
I can’t really pick between them – there have been so many great ones to so many different places.
My favourite travel destination, however, would be Italy. Florence, Venice, Rome, Pisa and, of course, Bologna. All of those I visited on different and equally amazing holidays.

- If you could bring to life a book or movie character for one day, who would you choose? What would you do with them?
I’m going to say Gandalf the Grey. Because I really need some of his wisdom in my life right now.
- If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
- 25 % to charity (MSF or Save the Children)
- 25 % to savings (possibly setting up a future trust that will go to charity if I don’t need it)
- 20% into investments,
- 20 % to my nearest and dearest…
And I only have 10% left. Right. So probably: a lot of books, and a big camera with lots of lenses, and a lot of fancy stationery. Possibly a ludicrously expensive ball gown, because, well, why not. Although at this stage I might not be able to afford one…

- Do you like spending time outdoors?
Yes: I love long walks and hikes. I’m not typically one of those people who enjoys lying down in the sun though.

- What kinds of shoes do you usually wear?
Boots, trainers or sandals. I can’t wear heels as I’m too tall ( 6 ft 2) and most elegant flats hurt my feet far too much.
- What would your dream home look like?
I’ve had a lot of dream homes so far, but they all have some things in common: lots of light, plenty of bookshelves and good company.

- What is a fandom that you are envious of?
Probably the Lord of the Rings fandom. It’s been going on for a good long while and people are still absolutely crazy about it. By ‘people’, I probably mean ‘me’…

My nominations:
Okay, I’ve never tagged people before, so I’m feeling very shy… Please do feel free to ignore me if you’ve already done this post…. or to do the tag, even if I haven’t tagged you!

I enjoyed reading your answers! Thank you so much for taking part and for plugging my bookstagram ☺️ Your instagram photos are amazing!
Jane Austen’s books and chocolate are also two of my favourite things. I actually haven’t read The Lord of the Rings yet, but it’s on my TBR.
